Well, I always feel blue in the face telling people to put away the Halo and CoD games to try some true gems from this generation. The 360 has a massive game library, it surpasses its competitors, and almost all of its games are decent quality (unlike the Wii). These games may not share the commercial success, the raving reviews, and the multiplayer gold as the big names, but they're not something to be missed. Please comment and discuss. If anybody is seeking further info, I'm free to review any of the listed games (own all of them). I've also linked trailers and reviews for further interest.

20. Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad
Posted Image
Japanese Trailer

That's right, lets start this list off with something most people have never heard of, let alone played. Not only is this title a mystery, but damn intriguing. Pronounced "Oh-nay-Chah-N-Bah-Rah", this bizarre series actually dates back to past generations. You play as handful of scantily clad girls with ninja swords, ridding the world of zombies. The gameplay attempts to mimic Devil May Cry hack-and-slash action, but it fall squite short of the mark. Much of the difficulty comes from mechanical design choices and not so much the actual enemies. Still, how many of us can say we flicked our swords clean of zombie blood while our bikinis remained drenched? A rare game for the curious looking for b-film entertainment.

19. Soldier of Fortune: Payback
Posted Image
GT Review

I honestly played SoF more than both CoD campaigns, it's just too much fun. A bigger series on the original Xbox, this sequel fell flat against the competition. Still, the sheer lack of realism while in a hyper-realistic environment is what makes this fun. It's short, easy, and can only be described as retarded fun. You can literally dismember combatants, with a pistol, from long range. Legs, arms, heads, everything will go flying when you come on the scene. It's safe to say the multiplayer is dead, but would have been fun.

18. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty
Posted Image
Trailer

Here's a game with all the brilliance of many blockbusters, yet no polish. It's ugly, buggy, and confusing. Still, the idea of Nazis overtaking New York, in a fictional parallel world, and you being recruited into a CoD-esque gameplay, is fun. In CoD4-2, you're fighting on your homefront, imagine those missions, just shitty. It's a shame the game never got the TLC it deserves.

17. Dark Sector
Posted Image
GT Review

Ever see Krull? That + Gears of War is how I'd describe this lackluster action game. Really, there's little to pick at this game. The idea, graphics, story, control, missions, all great. Somehow or another, it simply came out and passed by without turning any heads. You play as an operative in a quarantined area. Your plans go to shit when you become infected. Soon, your powers allow you to wield a DEVASTATING glave which serves as your main weapon. Running and sliding around into cover while hucking your blades of death at unsuspecting Russian commandos and other infected is a hoot. Also packaged with a solid multiplayer, it was quickly ghost town for a game that seemed to miss the hype train.

16. Tomb Raider Series
Posted Image
GT Review

Remember Lara? Almost a mascot for the Playstation, she jumped ship and made some crappy movies and sequels. It seemed like the stigma from her exploits were strong enough for gamers to turn their nose up to any new games she released. What many gamers didn't realize, Lara didn't pull a Sonic, her current gen games were actually good. With a game engine able to mimic Assassin Creed's monkey grip, her puzzles were back in full swing. Occasionally there's some forgettable gunplay thrown in, but the true gold is exploring and solving. There was even a remake of the original landmark game made with the new mechanics. Take the girls out for another spin.

15.Tony Hawk: Project 8
Posted Image
GT Review

Some people liked the original Tony Hawk games, some prefer the Underground series. Project 8 was the answer to both parties. Open world skating and mayhem matched with classic challenges, all before the birdman sold out to make EA Skate games. I've always been addicted to the old Hawk games, and this game seemed to climax my expectations. I played the shit out of, and its still fun 50-50ing the world to some solid music. If you haven't played a TH game, you're missing out.

14. Beautiful Katamari
Posted Image
GT Review

It amuses me how many people downright hate this series. The music, colorful characters, and goofy world seem to anger gamers for unknown reasons. A lot of people "just don't get it". You play as prince to the cosmos. Your lunatic dad destroyed the cosmos(playing tennis) and needs you to collect items in order to rebuild planets. You employ a katamari, which you roll around, and pick up items. The journey begins on a miniature scale, rolling up candy and small items, until you're able to literally roll up stars and galaxies. A downright fun drug trip with none of the consequences, I love it.

13. Chromehounds
Posted Image
GT Review

Like deep strategy, military action, and full customization of arms? Do you have a lot of time? Then Chromehounds is for you. A mech action game for the committed. Everything about this game is deep. You can go through different classes, which play very different, and build your own mech while destroying others. The campaign is just a training ground for the online component. With huge and epic operations, you'll need incredible planning and team work to win. This is no 20min en-devour, plan weeks, if not months, of expected playtime.

12. Just Cause
Posted Image
GT Review

Everybody's talking about Just Cause 2, but how many played the original? It was nothing short of breath taking open world fun. You play a CIA agent in a fictional paradise stunting your way across the map to mess with governments and factions. I was so blown away with the graphics and detail that I crashed the first plane I took off while attempting to get a look. Unfortunately, the first game was riddled with bugs and downright the most monotonous missions. It was a chore living or doing anything in the world. Glutton yourself a little punishment to explore one of the finest open world games on the market.

11. The Legos
Posted Image

The Lego series is becoming absolutely credible. As successful as the series is, I'm surprised how many people have shrugged the games off as children titles. With Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman, and Rockband already prime, its hard to scoff something that emerges me in some of my favorite worlds. Make no mistake, these games are pure nostalgia and fun.

10. Project Sylpheed
Posted Image
GT Review

Pretty sure this is the only space shooter on the system, and a fantastic game. Has more of a Star Fox feel than an actual space sim, making it easily accessible. The story's a little convoluted, but they gave a good effort. There's just no better feeling that locking on and firing some 200 missiles at unsuspecting victims.

9. Afro Samurai
Posted Image
GT Review

I'll be honest, I never watched the show, had low expectations, and not a fan of the cel-shading... I actually bought this game for only ONE reason: there's a fucking expired coupon for Church's Chicken in the instruction booklet!!! I'm dead serious, and only the 360 version! Upon actually playing it, it's really pretty good. There's a combo system and good abilities to vanquish your enemies. Add onto it the voice of Samuel L. Jackson, and you got a fun game. The difficulty ramps up very fast, but once you get the hang of it, there's no worries.

8. The Fighters
Posted Image
GT Review

Surprise! While composing this list, I realized just how many solid fighting games the 360 has to offer. Street Fighter 4, Virtua Fighter 5, Tekken 6, Soul Caliber 4, King of the Fighter XIII, Dead or Alive 4, and Blazblue. There's more, and not including the arcade titles. Any gamer today should do themselves a favor and pick up one of the biggest genres in gaming. Some are more complex than others and all have their own flavor; that's why there's so many on going brands from yesteryear.

7. Wanted: Weapons of Fate
Posted Image
GT Review

You know, this movie game was pretty hyped, and I was sure it'd blooow. After finally getting a chance to play it, this is not the case. A very solid title. It's only falls short in length. Still, curving bullets into the craniums of assassins will never disappoint.

6. Ghostbusters
Posted Image
GT Review

I don't know how people missed this game. Designed and voiced by the original talent, written as a nostalgic third movie, and employing some amazing gameplay similar to Gears of War, how could you go wrong? There's also a unique multiplayer tacked on. Go catch yourself some ghosts and see for yourself.

5. Batman Arkham Asylum
Posted Image
GT Review

This is almost a given and almost doesn't belong on this list. Still, it seems like there are people out there that passed on a superb game. This game just screams A+ material. The story, the open world, the combat, the gadgets, everything is amazing. With the sequel coming out, you owe it to yourself to put on the cape.

4. Earth Defense Force 2017
Posted Image
GT Review

I've already reviewed this one, and it probably sits as one of the most unknown games on the list. Don't miss the terrible b-game cult favorite. It's amount of cheese can only be surpassed by its amount of fun. It's lack of online multiplayer is the only thing holding this game back.

3. Fight Night Round 3
Posted Image
GT Review

You know, FN3 is probably one of my favorite games on the console. It was the first game I played, the first to impress me, and the first to give me a 1000/1000 achievement. It's not the boxing either, it's the amount of absolute fun. The graphics are so well done that you don't need a HUD to play, you can tell what's going on. Also, using both analogs to control the fight makes it easy to play. If you missed this for some petty reason, like lack of boxing interest, suck it up and try it. There's days where I'll just throw this in to relive the Ali-Fraiser fight, over and over.

2. Perfect Dark Zero
Posted Image
GT Review

Before there was Halo or COD, there was Perfect Dark. While the single player's a throw away, like the N64 classic, this launch title thrives on its mulitplayer. It hasn't aged well, but still a lot of fun. You don't know mayhem until you've played Uzis and Riot Shields. Packed with gametypes similar to Deathmatch, Assault, and Infection, and populating the map with bots makes this a winner anytime. My biggest disappoint stems from the lack of weapons and maps compared to the original. There's a lot, like 30+ weapons, but the original was around 50+. If only they patched or DLC'd some more goodness, I'd still be playing this all the time.

1. Lost Odyssey
Posted Image
GT Review

Oh-my-god... Hironobu Sakaguchi... Nobuo Uematsu... do you know who these gods among men are? No? Well, they're the makers(Director/Producer/Writer and Composer, respectively) of a little series, Final Fantasy. Though they left the franchise, they opted to crank out a few games for the 360, yeah, lucky us. Spanning 4 discs of classic-rpg goodness, Lost Odyssey felt like fantasies of yesteryear. There's no gimmicks, no hype, no easy access to make sales, it's all about pure Japanese role playing. The world's incredible, story touching, in-depth character motives, you become attached to everything. Epic is the only way to describe what this game has to offer.

I actually tried out Dark Sector because it looked interesting but I just didn't like it. Of course I only rented it so I didn't get a chance to play much into the game, but for me if I can't stay intrigued for the first few missions then the rest is usually just as bad.

Only one I played on that list was Chromehounds, I wasn't impressed really. Forgot exactly what turned me off.....Maybe the single-player was awful; while online was good- but I never had online when I initially had my Xbox.
Assassin's Creed,Halo 3, GRAW2,Mass Effect, Gears of War, GTA IV, Lost Odyssey, Fable II, Age of Empires I,II, and III.

I would have been totally into it if I hadn't bought it so late, the multiplayer has dried up. The single player was pretty "meh". Armored Core 4 was the opposite, awesome campaign.

I'll be posting 10-1 this weekend.

Turning Point was a fairly good game, can't remember if it had multiplayer or not though. I think it did but there were only like 5 people who ever played it.

A Thousand Years of Dreams was a great feature in Lost Odyssey. All in all, the game deserves to be on the list. It is a very good game. Some have said that the old school mechanics area downside; I say fuck you- those old school mechanics are tried and true, and work very well with the game.

I haven't finished it, I was on Gongora; but never got around to beating him. I should one of these days.

Ahh Lost Odyssey.
My one regret is trading that game in.

I got about 75% through it and lost interest.
Recently I've been wanting it back, to finish it and find its secrets and take out some of the extreme bosses of the games.

But what i really want is another game like final fantasy 8 or 9 which had soo many secret locations to find with the airship, open world exploration was always my favorite aspect of Square's RPGs.

Shame Lost Odyssey was more linear in where to go.

*sighs* I know. When you obtain the boat, I was sure the world would open up, but nope. It seems world maps are a thing of the past, even to the most pure jrpg game.

Does Blue Dragon or Eternal Sonata have one? I never got around to playing those (mainly due to my work not carrying them). They, along with a couple kid games (Banjo-Kazooie) would probably make the list too, if I had.

Yeah i thought that might reveal a few things but alas, no.

I suspect FF13 will be more FF12 in exploration? with further absence of open world exploration, well that was more a hybrid. you entered a location and although it was quite linear, there was some secrets to be found through extreme exploration.

But nothing can reach the satisfaction of finding a spider like building in the wilderness of FF8 which then lead to a village of moombas.
